It’s been an incredible journey since the opening of my gym, The Transformation Station. The growth we’ve experienced has been nothing short of remarkable, as we’ve more than doubled our space to accommodate our expanding community.
But this growth isn’t just about physical expansion; it’s about personal growth as well. In order to reach new heights of professional success, I’ve had to embark on a journey of self-improvement. While I don’t usually open up about my professional goals, there are a few key lessons I’ve learned along the way that I believe are worth sharing.
First and foremost, I’ve come to realize that people are genuinely good. As we’ve welcomed new members, employees, and friends into our gym, I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing their growth alongside our own. The support and camaraderie that people have shown has been truly inspiring, and it serves as a reminder that we are all capable of greatness. In a world where we are constantly bombarded with messages about fitting in and conforming, it’s important to remember that being different is a strength, not a weakness. Our diverse backgrounds and experiences shape who we are and contribute to the richness of our society. One thing I love about The Transformation Station is that we have learned our neighbour, and fostered an environment where everyone feels valued, heard, and respected for who they are.
On another note, it’s important to acknowledge that not everyone will have your best interests at heart. Some individuals may appear kind and supportive to your face, but behind your back, they may say things that are less than flattering. In the face of such negativity, it’s crucial to stay true to yourself and continue pursuing your dreams regardless of what others may say. I’d be lying if I said that growth was all sunshines and rainbows. There are some days that I have cried to my partner, lawyer, bookkeeper… the tears are feelings of defeat. There are some weeks, that I was cold and avoidant. It was all part of the process. Sometimes it’s going to be uncomfortable before it gets better. I’m in a phase of that right now because we move in 2 weeks and it’s December. I’m EXCITED.. BUT as I said.. it’ll be uncomfortable for a bit. then it’ll be glorious.
Rise above the noise, seek help if required, and focus on your vision.
Speaking of help… Another valuable lesson I’ve learned is the importance of outsourcing. Recognize that there may be areas where you lack expertise or skills. Instead of trying to do everything yourself, consider hiring someone who can fill those gaps. Whether it’s delegating tasks, hiring a life coach, going to therapy, or seeking other types of professional help, outsourcing can be a game-changer. Even something as simple as people-pleasing can be improved by bringing in someone with the right skills. The impact on your life and business can be transformative.
Watching your circle and being conscious of who you surround yourself with is incredibly important when it comes to personal growth. Your circle has the power to shape your mindset, beliefs, and aspirations. By surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals who are driven, and motivational, you are more likely to be influenced by their energy and success-oriented mindset. They will push you to reach your full potential, inspire you to set bigger goals, and support you in your endeavours. Not everyone is going to be unbelievable positive on a daily basis, and that is okay. As long as it’s not a constant. If you surround yourself with individuals who are consistently negative, complacent, or lack ambition, their energy may halt your growth and hinder your progress. Therefore, it’s important to watch and evaluate your circle, ensuring that they align with your values and goals, and ultimately contribute to your personal and professional development. Remember, your circle can either be a catalyst for growth or a roadblock, so choose wisely and surround yourself with individuals who ignite your passion and inspire you to soar to new heights.
Lastly, never underestimate the power of learning. Immerse yourself in books, podcasts, or any other form of knowledge that resonates with you. The more you expand your mind, the more you’ll grow personally and professionally. Seek out inspiration, gain new perspectives, and continuously strive to better yourself. I’m part of a paid Emotional Intelligence book club, and it’s a catalyst in my learning.
As I reflect on my journey with The Transformation Station, I can’t help but feel a sense of gratitude and excitement for what lies ahead in 2024. The support and growth we’ve experienced are a testament to the power of determination, perseverance, and a positive mindset. Together, we can achieve greatness to transform our lives.
Thanks for being part of the journey!
