A Note to Our CN Tower Climbing Team!

Woah. The time has come! CN Tower climb for United Way is tomorrow 🤩

Here’s a few tips to help ease some nerves from my past experiences of climbing the same stairs you’re adventuring on! I’ve had the privilege to climb twice, as well as compete in various high energy physical fitness events/competitions.

Here we go:

1. Start Steady, Finish Strong

Remember how we approach our AMRAP 20s and those long workouts: Don’t come in too hot! Set a pace you can sustain, like a marathon rather than a sprint. Keep it controlled from the beginning to stay consistent all the way up.

2. Use a Planned Approach for Breaks

From my own competition experiences, here’s a plan of attack I recommend: tackle two flights, then count to ten, or go for three flights and wait 20 seconds. You’ll be counting in your head since you aren’t able to bring anything besides a set of keys. Remember, don’t wait too long between flights; choose a number that allows you to recover but doesn’t let you get cold. Stick to this method to keep the pace steady and manageable. Remember tip 1 goes along way with this 2nd tip too.

3. Your Training Has Prepared You

When your mind tells you to quit, remember you’ve trained for this with every squat, skip, and strengthening exercise. Classes like our circuit training and PowerBurn have built your endurance. Trust in your body, it’s ready for this challenge!

Take what you need from these three tips.. but most importantly, have fun! We’re reaching new heights today and celebrating with our friends. We’re competing individually but we’re here to support as a team!

I’m always rooting for you,

Christina
