To Membership Or Not To Membership.

The cost of gym memberships, specifically. This is something that I have been thinking a lot about lately. Primarily because I have overused my benefits for massage therapy fairly quickly this year.. but still making the appointments because I see the value in the treatments, and I have also realized how much I paid out of pocket for different services/products before I actually had really great benefits coverage. I remember when I had gained 100 pounds, how much back pain I had.. I willingly paid $4.5k out of pocket for the year just for a sense of relief each week. Fast forward to the past year and a half, and working out in the gym while eating healthy to lose that 100 pounds was my solution. $4.5k is a lot of protein that could have been bought! I mean, I’m not discrediting chiropractic care, but my situation was personal. Anyhow, money in daily living is something that is often swept under the rug because some consider it taboo to discuss financial or conversations of sorts. However, finances play one of the biggest roles in our day to day existence and these topics are completely normal.

Back to regular programming: A gym membership is like a hidden gem that holds immense value, yet it often goes unnoticed by many. It’s funny how we readily splurge a few hundred dollars (thousands for some) per month on fast food, beauty supplies, hair, nails, car accessories, Air Force 1s, concert tickets, a night out, sushi, and trendy clothes just to chase that fleeting dopamine high. I know because I’ve been guilty of it! But when it comes to investing in our own well-being through a gym membership, it somehow gets overlooked or devalued. & with all due respect, I know people who have car detailing memberships to take care of the bodies of their cars but don’t take care of their own body’s health.

Let’s take a step back and think about it. Working out at the gym is like a proactive approach to taking care of ourselves. It’s a way to stay fit, healthy, and energized. Instead of relying on medications or costly services that we end up paying for out of pocket, why not invest in something that can benefit us in the long run?

Not only does a gym membership offer a place to exercise, but it also provides a supportive environment where you can connect with like-minded individuals who share similar goals. It’s a place where you can challenge yourself, push your limits, and see incredible progress as you work towards your fitness aspirations.

Think about all the positive impacts that regular exercise can have on your life. It boosts your mood, reduces stress, increases your stamina, and improves your overall well-being. It’s not just about looking good; it’s about feeling good from the inside out. When there’s been a struggle in mobility as we age, but now there’s benefits from exercising.. that’s worth it right there! Think stair climbing.

So, next time you’re contemplating where to spend your hard-earned money, consider the long-term benefits that a gym membership can bring. It’s an investment in yourself, your health, and your happiness. Plus, the sense of accomplishment and the endorphin rush you’ll experience after a good workout is completely priceless.

Don’t let the value of a gym membership go unnoticed. Embrace the opportunity to take charge of your physical and mental well-being. Trust me, you won’t regret it. So, grab that gym bag, put on your favorite workout gear, and get ready to unleash the best version of yourself.

Your body, mind, and soul will thank you for it!

  1. It’s a feeling of complete happiness when you’ve finished a class and you’ve worked your hardest for you.… It’s taking me a while to get back into a gym atmosphere and I’ve missed it the last week and my body has missed it, so what Christine is saying is so so true, your body your mind your heart your spirit is worth it at least to me it is. Thank you, Christine.
