Getting the right amount of energy for the day can be a challenge. We all have different needs and different sources of energy. But one simple and effective way to get an energy boost is to move your body.
Movement energizes the body and the mind. It helps bring the body out of a stagnant state, bringing more energy and brighter mood. When you move your body, you stimulate your blood flow and increase the amount of oxygen that flows to your brain. This helps you feel more awake and energized.
Movement doesn’t have to be anything strenuous or time consuming. Even small actions like stretching, walking around, or dancing for a few minutes can give you an energy boost. Yoga and meditation can also help increase energy levels. Even light housework or gentle gardening can be rejuvenating and help reduce fatigue. Plus the feel productivity brings is also second to none!
You can also incorporate movement into your daily routine to create a mind calming and energizing effect. You could start your day with a few minutes of stretching, a fitness class, followed by a walk around the block, and perhaps ending your day with some mindful yoga or a few minutes of meditation.
Try setting goals for yourself for each day and use movement to help you achieve those goals. Use movement to provide motivation and encouragement throughout the day, so that no matter how difficult the task is, you are always reminded that you can do it when you move your body. I like to plan my movement/classes in my agenda so it’s treated as a priority. Working out feels amazing, and so does checking that box at the end of the day.
Incorporating movement into your daily life is an easy, yet powerful way to increase energy levels. Instead of reaching for caffeine or a sugary snack, next time you feel tired or sluggish, try moving your body to give yourself a natural energy boost. You may be surprised at the power of movement, and the energy it brings.
