Healthy eating isn’t always as easy as it sounds. With our hectic lifestyles of 2023, it’s hard to find the time to make and prepare healthy meals. Especially being in a microwave type generation where most people want things now, or within 15 seconds.. hot and read.. In saying this, healthy eating doesn’t have to be all or nothing! The ‘ON/OFF’ light switch type of dieting can be terminal to actually sustaining healthy living.
Here are some tips for incorporating healthy eating habits into your everyday life:
• Prepare meals in advance. Meal prep is a great way to get a jump on the week. You can prepare several meals at once and freeze or store them, so you always have something healthy and ready to eat.
• Stock up on healthy snacks. Having nutritious snacks, like fresh fruit and vegetables, hummus and crackers, in your kitchen means you’re less likely to reach for unhealthy options.
• Find ways to make your favorite meals healthier. There are many ways to make meals lighter, such as cutting back on cheese, watching over-serving sizes of sour cream, and cream-based sauces, or using leaner proteins.
• Cook using healthy cooking methods. Incorporating healthy cooking methods, such as baking, grilling, or poaching, into your meal routines is a great way to make sure you’re eating healthy without sacrificing flavour. A lot of people currently love their air fryers instead of submersing food into oil. Your foods doesn’t all need to be boiled in water to make it sustainably healthy for you.
• Fill half of your plate with vegetables. Making sure that you fill half of your plate with vegetables is an easy way to ensure that you’re getting your recommended daily intake of these essential nutrients.
Eating healthy doesn’t have to be difficult or time consuming. By incorporating these simple tips into your everyday life, you’ll soon find yourself in the habit of making healthier food choices. With a bit of planning and pre-preparation, you can have a healthier and happier life.
